Run for Hope 5K: Our First Charity Run Was a Community Success

On September 12, Martha's Vineyard Regional High School was full of a different kind of energy — running shoes, community spirit, and a shared sense of purpose. Run for Hope, the Millers Foundation's very first charity run, is officially in the books, and it exceeded what we imagined for a first-time event.
A morning built on community
Runners, walkers, and families gathered early that Saturday morning for a 5K that was never really about the finish line. It was about showing up for a cause, for each other, and for communities thousands of miles away who will feel the impact of that morning for years to come.
The feedback since race day has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants praised how smoothly the event came together, from check-in to the course itself, and the post-race spread didn't disappoint either: plenty of food options kept the celebration going well after the last runner crossed the finish line. One runner summed up the morning perfectly:
"It was very well organized, the crowd was so much fun, and the music had such wonderful energy. There was great signage everywhere, and so much energy."\
More than a race
What made Run for Hope special wasn't just the run itself, but everything it represented: a first-time community event, built from the ground up, that brought neighbors together around a shared belief that a single Saturday morning can help fund clean water, education, and child sponsorship programs around the world.

Run for Hope 5K: Nossa Primeira Corrida Beneficente Foi um Sucesso na Comunidade
No dia 12 de setembro, a Martha's Vineyard Regional High School esteve cheia de um tipo diferente de energia — tênis de corrida, espírito comunitário e um propósito compartilhado. O Run for Hope, a primeiríssima corrida beneficente da Millers Foundation, já está registrado na história, e superou o que imaginávamos para um evento de estreia.
Uma manhã construída em comunidade
Corredores, caminhantes e famílias se reuniram cedo naquele sábado para uma corrida de 5 km que nunca foi realmente sobre a linha de chegada. Era sobre se fazer presente — por uma causa, uns pelos outros, e por comunidades a milhares de quilômetros de distância que sentirão o impacto daquela manhã por anos.
O feedback desde o dia da corrida tem sido extremamente positivo. Os participantes elogiaram o quão bem organizado foi o evento, desde o check-in até o próprio percurso, e o bufê pós-corrida também não decepcionou — muitas opções de comida mantiveram a celebração animada bem depois do último corredor cruzar a linha de chegada.
Um dos corredores resumiu a manhã perfeitamente: "Foi muito bem organizado, o público muito divertido e a música tinha uma energia muito maravilhosa. Havia muita sinalização, muita energia."
Mais do que uma corrida
O que tornou o Run for Hope especial não foi apenas a corrida em si, mas tudo o que ela representou: um evento comunitário de estreia, construído do zero, que reuniu vizinhos em torno de uma crença compartilhada de que uma única manhã de sábado pode ajudar a financiar água potável, educação e programas de apadrinhamento de crianças ao redor do mundo.
